August 19 Meeting
A group of concerned citizens met August 19 to discuss the deer situation with the goal of finding a good balance between the wellbeing of the deer, the residents, and the ecosystem. The following subcommittees were formed:
- Education
- Government Collaboration
- Data Research and Collection
- Leadership Team
Deer Survey Results
An ad hoc group of citizens from Berkeley Lake conducted an online suvey to better understand resident experiences and perceptions regarding the deer population. The majority of respondents consider deer-related issues to be very or extremely important. Major concerns include the following:
- Property and garden damage
- Vehicle collisions
- Habitat and greenspace degradation
- Health and safety risks
